The Membership Marketing Manager works with Marketing, Visitor and Member Services, Public Communications, Curatorial, Exhibitions, Institutional Advancement, Publications, Education, and Properties staff, as well as external creative agency partners to develop member and development communications and events. Member communication and events are designed primarily to support membership growth and retention. This position will occasionally take a role in marketing other product lines beyond membership, including general attendance, programs, exhibitions, corporate events, rights and reproduction, and may at times provide secondary assistance with PR responsibilities and general assistance to departmental initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in the areas of integrated marketing, art direction, social media and copywriting (short & long form).Candidates who have specialized knowledge of membership program marketing
Candidates who have specialized knowledge of membership program marketing and/or who have significant experience in event management will be given preference.

Bachelor’s Degree in business/marketing, marketing communications, journalism, English, creative writing, public relations, advertising, or related field
Minimum three to five years management experience in marketing, public relations, advertising or creative writing industry, preferably at a non-profit cultural organization
Superior oral and written communication skills, including strong writing, meticulous editing/proofreading skills
Experience with the execution of integrated marketing programs and managing outside vendors required; design of marketing programs highly preferred
Teamwork; demonstrated ability to work successfully in a highly matrixed organization
Proficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteStrong analytic skills; experience with visitor demographics and targeted communications
Strong visual communication skills; experience working with graphic designers to create visually successful communication materials
Excellent interpersonal skills required; ability to be flexible, responsive, and directive with media, proven track record of delivering excellent customer service
Hands-on experience with social media and the development of social media strategies to achieve marketing objectives
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with many deadlines and responsibility for a high volume of communication production
Superior organizational and project management skills required; ability to plan and manage multiple projects from concept through execution
Good problem solving skills and ability to apply knowledge and experience to issues and problems that arise in order to achieve marketing goals
General mobility throughout all museum properties and ability to lift, carry, and otherwise transport marketing materials weighing 40 lbs
Ability to work occasional nights and weekends
